Dear Reader,

What better way to say goodbye to summer than a beach holiday?  I am thrilled to be saying my farewells again this year in Provincetown, Massachusetts.  Those of you who have been following this blog may remember that I am offering advance copies of YOU’RE SURE TO FALL IN LOVE in paperback at the Provincetown Bookshop.  I was delighted to be asked to appear there on Sunday, September 3, at 3:00.  The managers invited me to come for a book signing, and a reading, too.  That will be a first for me—reading from my work in public—so I am a bit nervous about it.  If you happen to find yourself on the Cape this weekend, do please stop by for moral support (246 Commercial Street, P’town, MA).

Every bit as strong as the excitement of this first rite of passage for the novel is the sheer pleasure of being in Provincetown.  So strong is its hold on me that I set my novel there, in the summer of 1976.  And the town continued to tug at my heart strings even when I didn’t see it for decades.  But I’m back now.  As the season winds down, may you also go to your special place, in person if possible, but also in your heart.

Bruce
