Dear Reader,
I hope I can be forgiven for weighing in on the latest presidential firestorm: the condemnation of NFL players who seize their First Amendment rights and protest. I didn’t want to go there. I didn’t want to dignify the lunacy. But then I thought, if we don’t speak up, we are willing victims in the rape of our democracy.
The strongest condemnation I have heard so far from NFL team owners is, “the President’s remarks are divisive.” Well, all his remarks are divisive. That’s a given. But these are illegal and unconstitutional, as well. Just another nail in this administration’s coffin. I say, let’s move forward with the burial before the stench worsens. It already stinks to high heaven—and all around the globe. Let’s put it down while there is still a chance for the government to reach fresh air.
